September 11, 2008 Eros Pictures in association with Boundscript Pictures is all set to make a sequel of Sujoy Ghosh's ALADIN slated for release this year. Having seen the first cut of ALADIN starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Riteish Deshmukh & Jackie Fernandes, Eros is confident of the product and has announced the sequel even before the release of the film. Speaking on the development, Kishore Lulla, Chairman & Managing Director, Eros International said, ''Eros is committed to the Indian film industry and our aim is to make wholesome Indian cinema for the global audience. We are very proud of ALADIN as it is a 100% Indian product and are very confident of its universal appeal among audiences. I am not worried about the fate of this product at the box office but we will continue to invest our faith in such cinema which can be watched across the globe and ALADIN 2 will be a bigger challenge in every aspect as it will be many times more than ALADIN 1'' Sunil Lulla, President, Eros International, India added, ''I am confident with ALADIN, we have a Hindi film for a global audience. It is going to be a complete family entertainer with universal appeal as there is a little something for everyone - lots of magic and fantasy for the kids along with action adventure and romance for the youth. Adding to that, the film guarantees some of the best and most complex visual effects seen in Indian cinema, hence the sequel will be a bigger challenge with higher expectations''. Sujoy Ghosh said ''I was completely taken aback and touched by Kishore's reaction. This was a very nice gesture by Eros; ALADIN 2 will be a bigger challenge and much more fun. I don't understand cross over cinema but the aim is to make a full on Hindi film, songs, dances etc all, for a global audience''. This is the first time that a film studio has gone ahead with plans to produce a sequel before even the release of the film. The sequel is slated to go on floors mid next year. Jaqueline learns from a living legend 'Big B' By SBN, 27 November, 2008 Jaqueline Fernandes, Miss Sri Lanka 2006, who is making her debut alongside the Big B as Princess Jasmine, got some tips while shooting for Aladin. And it was from none other than the Big B himself! We caught up with the beauty and got her take on working with Amitabh Bachchan, her film and much more. Jaqueline says, “I got the chance to learn a lot from this living legend! I feel really fortunate that I got to share my Bollywood debut with such a great actor.” She adds that even though she was really nervous on her first day on sets the veteran actor put her at ease. She reveals, “On the very first day of shooting I was quite nervous to act in front of Amitabh Bachchan. But he was very calm and even told Sujoy, the director, to let me settle down.” Big B even attempted to help her calm down by talking to her. Jaqueline says, “He started chatting to me and I told him about growing up and how that everyone in Sri Lanka loved his movies as well!” Time obviously flies when you are having fun because the actress soon realized that they had been talking for over half and hour. She says, “We chatted for quite some time and he gave me some useful tips. Since my Hindi is not so good he told me to read Hindi newspapers and watch Hindi movies to improve. By the end of our chat I was really comfortable.” About the film Jaqueline says that the Big B is the best thing in the film. She says, “The film has everything… action, romance, comedy, drama and revenge. The most fascinationg work has been done by Mr. Bachchan. Big B finally shoots for Aladdin Friday, January 02, 2009 Sujoy Ghosh’s Aladdin was supposed to release last month, but was postponed because Amitabh Bachchan, who plays Genie, could not find the time to shoot a few of his scenes. Now, after a three-month delay, the production house has announced that shooting will begin today. “Yes, Mr. Bachchan has finally given us time. We were worried about the Bachchan dates. Because of his health and his other commitments, the film was pushed back.” Amitabh was admitted to hospital on his birthday (11th October) and after a month’s rest, he started shooting first for Teen Patti. Director Sujoy Ghosh said, “I was not at all worried about the completion of the film. Amitji is a very professional actor and I knew he’d keep his promise. Last October, things didn’t work out because of his health problem. It’s really great to see a senior actor get back to shape so quickly. “We wanted to release the film during the Christmas season. But now we are planning on releasing it during the summer vacation (April-May, 09).” Big B has also confirmed the shoot. Holly: 'Aladin' director launches special blog for fans By IANS, 25 April, 2009 Adding a creative tweak to the movie promotion process, filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh has launched a special blog for his next venture 'Aladin' to provide fans a sneak peek into the making of the movie. In the blog, http://boundscript.blogspot.com/, Ghosh plans to share every moment of making the film with the movie aficionados from the genesis of the movie to shoots, stories, etc, said a release from the production house Friday. The blog will also contain exclusive pictures taken on the sets of the movie with entries from the cast and crew as well. 'It will be like eating ice-cream with your eyes,' said Ghosh about the film. Holly: Big B repeats a Jaadu July 16, 2009 While Amitabh Bachchan’s celebrated look in the classic Pag Ghunghroo from the film ‘Namak Halaal’ is still fresh in our minds, the actor will be seen once again in a similar avatar in Eros International’s ‘Aladin’. Mr. Bachchan will be seen grooving to a peppy number called ‘O Re Sawariya’ in the celebrated White kurta and Pink Pagadi which he once donned in the film ‘Namak Halaal’. In this sequence, Jacqueline (Jasmine) is trying to woo Riteish (Aladin) while Amitabh Bachchan (Genius) keeps popping into the scene at various points. Director Sujoy Ghosh says, “We had no intentions of repeating his look from ‘Namak Halaal’. It is purely a coincidence but it definitely shows how the actor has impacted our minds over the years through his cult performances.” Talking of the song, Sujoy adds, “O Re Sawariya is a fun filled number and Mr. Bachchan has added an extra charm to it with his unique style and unbeatable energy. We had a great time filming this song and I am sure audiences will love it too”.
